The Past is Prolog - Chapter One

Greetings folks! Here's the opening chapter of Montgomery Thump and Timbuk too in "The Past is Prolog". There's some sort of glitch in Blogger's image technology that's causing color deviation in some of the pages. I think this should solve itself once the art is featured on the project's website. In any case I'm beta testing here.

I hope you have a good time with this. Here's the link to the Introduction. More to come.

Looks really promising, I love the 80's feeling to it as I am a big fan of that era. Hope to see more soon!

So THESE are Montgomery Thump and Timbuck. A kangaroo and a koala. This ought to be interesting. My older brother was a huge Australia enthusiast when he was a kid, and we both still love kangaroos and other Australia stuff. Guess that's why we also both love the Crash Bandicoot games. Think I ought to show him this...

Anyways, looking forward to the next part.

WOW! This is honestly worth the wait and anticipation! These characters are great and have very original design to them. This truly reminds me of the Crash universe so far and it is reminiscent of classic animated films like An American Tail... (which is funny considering you worked on that film.) xD

I wish the best to you Charles and hope to see Montgomery Thump and friends future adventures. I hope to see this project get very far.

Ahaha! The 80's! Austrialian 80's non-the less!

But this definitely explains the older looking cartoon style opening card.

Great Job Charles and awesome build up of the story. Can't wait for part two.

I love it so far, the characters really look like they were developed in the 80's (and if I get it right, they actually were.)
So this is the project that heavily influenced Crash's visual?

Thank you very much for your comments everyone. I appreciate the positive reception that the project has received. Well, it passed its first test, that the characters are recognizable as the animals they are. There was also a big spike in traffic soon after this was posted. Maybe the biggest one I can remember since I've been maintaining the blog. We're in a beta test mode right now and all indications are it should do pretty good once the site is ready and we go for wider exposure. The project has been influential behind the scenes in animation for a long time. Perhaps the most famous project in animation that nobody's heard of over the past 30 something years. In any case it's good to finally be getting it out to an audience that's outside of this biz. I'm prepping Chapter Two for publication next week on Wednesday April 9. There's more to come after that. Thanks again everybody and I'll be following up soon.

Not only does the '80s look and feel shine through the design and personality of these characters, but the way they interact and the story they are telling is very fun, appealing, and unique. I love that they seem to be aware of their world and ours (at least Monty is.) lol On top of that, Australia has never had their own animated mascot(s)...until now. Awesome debut, Charles! Can't wait to see more!!

I do have one suggestion reading it again for future chapter, perhaps it'd be a good idea to color the text boxes to specific characters. I just didn't notice it here because it didn't have any effect on this chapter, but depending on the scenes down the line, it may or may not help.

I thank you all for your wonderful comments! I'm very glad to see the first chapter this well received.

If you like the opening you'll really enjoy what's to follow. I have a lot of content already completed and I'm working on more all the time.

The second episode will be out in a couple of days on Wednesday April 9.

Thank you again. You've been great and it's truly a joy sharing this project and everything else with you.
